1

Q:        We are looking to travel to Europe.  I understand that our U.S. phone will not work there.  Do you have phones for Europe?

A:        Yes.  Many countries around the world utilize different technologies for cellular service.  Action Cellular provides rental phones for use in over 200 countries around the world.

2
Q:        I am going on a cruise and I don’t know which phone to use.

A:        The easiest way to determine which phone will work is to select where you are going on our website and you will be provided with a list of the type of phones that work in that region of the world.  You will also see the prices and different rental options for that phone.

3

Q:        In Europe, I understand that the technology is called GSM and that these phones require a SIM card.  If I have my own SIM card and I travel to the US, can I rent just the telephone from you?

A:        Yes.

4

Q:        What are the different types of telephones that you rent?

A:        Action’s phones are manufactured by Motorola, Nokia, Hughes, Panasonic, Nera, NEC, Qualcomm and Siemens.

5

Q:        What different phone service does Action offer?

A:        Action utilizes the following networks for its rental phones: AT&T Wireless,  Globalstar, Iridium, Inmarsat, Nextel, O2, Swisscom, Thuraya, and Verizon.

6

Q:        Do you rent two-way radios also?

A:        Action has Nextel two-way radios which can be used anywhere in the U.S.

7

Q:        How do I reserve a phone?

A:        Our website has been designed to make the rental process fast and simple.  Just select where you are going and you will see the types of phones that will work in that area.  You can then select which rate plan you want, fill out the form, and click on the “submit” button and then you are finished.

8

Q:        How do I get the telephone?

A:        Our phones can either be picked up or delivered directly to you, depending on where you live (or work) and where you are going.

9

Q:        I will be flying into San Francisco International Airport and wish to pick up my telephone there.  Is this possible?

A:        Yes.  Action has two locations in the International terminal arrival areas “A” and “G”.  In addition, we also have a facility at Baggage Claim Area 3 in United’s North Terminal (Domestic). Please check with us regarding hours of operation.

10

Q:        I may be traveling to a very remote area in Africa.  Which phone should I use?

A:        Action provides satellite phone service utilizing four different satellite phone technologies.  We offer service on the Iridium Network, Globalstar Network, Inmarsat Network and Thuraya Network.

11

Q:        Which of the satellite telephones would be the lightest?

A:        Our Thuraya phone is by far the smallest satellite phone available.  However, this phone can only be used throughout most of Europe, Central and Northern Africa, and in parts of Asia.  This would be the ideal phone if you were traveling to Iraq or Afghanistan.  The Iridium and Globalstar phones are also handheld.  The Iridium phone works anywhere on the globe, while the Globalstar phone works throughout the Americas and across the Atlantic to and including Europe.  The Globalstar phone can also be used in Australia.  The Inmarsat phone is the size of a notebook computer and is one of the most reliable satellite technologies.  It cannot, however, be moving while in use.  It is the largest of the satellite phones and cannot be used at the North or South Poles.

12

Q:        How quickly can you deliver a telephone?

A:        Action provides overnight or same day delivery service depending on your location.

13

Q:        I wish to rent multiple telephones.  Is this possible?

A:        Yes.  Regardless of the number of phones that you need, please contact us and describe your needs and we will provide you with a competitive price.

14

Q:        How do I return my telephone?

A:        All phone packages, when shipped, include a return air bill for overnight return of the phone back to Action using Federal Express.

15

Q:        Do you have twenty-four hour support?

 A:        Yes.

16

Q:        I travel overseas rather frequently and would like to know if a special arrangement can be made with respect to keeping the phone and arranging for long-term pricing?

A:        Yes.  Please call us or send us an email describing your needs and we will call you back promptly.

17

Q:        How do I determine if there is cellular coverage in the area where I am going?

A:        When you select the country you are visiting on our website, you will have the ability to select and view the coverage map for that area.

18

Q:        Do you charge an activation fee like the cellular carriers do?

A:        No.  Our rates typically consist of an equipment charge (which is frequently free in the U.S.), an airtime charge (for the usage of the phone), a delivery fee and tax.

19

Q:        Do you impose minimum usage requirements?

A:        Some of our rate plans require that the phone be used a certain number of minutes per day, week or month.  However, we do have light-user rate plans for those who wish to use the phone only for emergency.

20

Q:        How do I pay for my phone rental?

A:        Action Cellular requires a valid credit card in order to process the rental.  For cellular telephones, a $500.00 pre-authorization is taken on the card for each phone rented.  For satellite telephones, a $750.00 advance deposit is charged to the credit card.  Then, after the final invoice is processed, any additional amounts due are charged to your credit card.  If the rental charges are less than the amount of the deposit, we will credit the overpayment to your credit card.

21

Q:        Do the phones have voice mail or is this available so that I will not miss any calls if my phone is powered off?

A:        Most of our telephones either come with voice mail or have voice mail available. In some cases there is no charge for voicemail; in other cases there will be a charge.

22

Q:        Do I need to program my international phone for each country I visit?

A:        No.  Our phones come programmed and ready to use.

23

Q:        How do I get the telephone?

A:        Our phones can either be picked up or delivered directly to you, depending on where you live (or work) and where you are going.

24

Q:        How do I make calls from my cellular or satellite telephone?

A:        When we ship out the phone to you, it will come with dialing instructions for you to make telephone calls and it will show the procedure if it is different from making outbound long distance or international calls.

25

Q:        How will I know if there are voice mail messages that were left for me?

A:        When you power up the telephone, you will see a message that says, “You have voice mail messages”.

26

Q:        Do the satellite telephones work indoors?

A:        No.  Satellite telephones require line-of-sight access to the sky.  Satellite coverage will be difficult in canyons, in the jungle or in any areas where you do not have direct access to the satellites in the sky.

27

Q:        How reliable are satellite telephones?

A:        Our Inmarsat and Thuraya satellite telephones are the most reliable.  However, since Globalstar and Iridium utilize moving satellites, it is sometimes difficult to make a connection, and sometimes when a connection is made, the call is dropped.  Please read the satellite phone disclosure in our Terms and Conditions, which is located at www.1800rentphone.com/terms.shtml.

28

Q:        Can the cellular and satellite telephones be charged on the electric systems in different countries?

A:        Yes, and it is important for us to know which countries you are visiting so that we can provide you with the appropriate power adapters.

29

Q:        It is possible to transmit data or faxes with the cellular and satellite telephones?

A:        Yes.  Data kits are available for some of our cellular and satellite telephones.  We have special data-capable phones for the GSM Network (Europe, parts of Asia, Australia, New Zealand) and we also have data kits available for the Iridium, Globalstar and Thuraya networks.

30

Q:        How do I determine if there is cellular coverage in the area where I am going?

A:        When you select the country you are visiting on our website, you will have the ability to select and view the coverage map for that area.

31

Q:        Will my European GSM phone work in the U.S.?

A:        Most European GSM phones will not work in the U.S. unless they are triband phones.

32

Q:        If I bring my SIM card with me from Europe, can I rent a compatible telephone that will work in the U.S.?

 A:        Yes.

33

Q:        Is my phone activated when I receive it?

A:        Yes.  In the case of satellite phones (except Thuraya), we ask that you test the phone and make one or two completed calls before you leave the country.  This is very important. Please review the Satellite Phone disclosure in our terms and conditions. www.1800rentphone.com/terms.shtml

34

Q:        What do I do if I lose my telephone or it is stolen?

A:        You should immediately contact Action Cellular by phone and in writing.  After you speak to the customer service representative providing all the information regarding the specific phone that was lost, we suggest that you contact us a second time at (415) 929-0400 (press 4) where you can leave a recorded message that will be date and time stamped and saved in our archives. This is a good idea, as it will provide proof that you contacted us regarding your lost phone.

35

Q:        Is it possible to get our rental phone number in advance so we can give it out to our friends and family before we leave?

 A:        Yes.

36

Q:        If I am using a GSM telephone, how do others reach me?

A:        Most of our GSM telephones utilize UK phone numbers.  Therefore, regardless of where you are traveling (in a covered area), your callers will dial you at your UK phone number.

37

Q:        I am having difficulty making international phone calls from my U.S. phone.  What should I do?

A:        You may call us for any technical problems you may have.  However, the instructions that came with the phone provide you with all the dialing instructions for making international calls. If you rented a phone without international dialing capability and wish to change this, please give us a call.
